Zebra Catalina Goby

The Zebra Catalina Goby (Lythrypnus zebra) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its vivid orange-red body marked with vertical blue stripes, its tiny size, and its active perching and darting behavior. Males typically grow slightly larger and may display brighter coloration with more territorial tendencies, especially during breeding, while females and juveniles are smaller and more subdued in color. They reach about 1.5–2 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 10 gallons.

Provide live rock for hiding places and perching, along with some open swimming space. A secure lid is essential, as these small gobies can jump. Maintain stable water parameters: salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, and pH ~8.1–8.4.

Their diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped meaty foods, and high-quality micro pellets. With proper care, this brilliantly patterned nano fish makes a standout addition to reef aquariums, especially for hobbyists who appreciate colorful and small-sized species.
