Yellowfin Goby

Yellowfin Goby (Yongeichthys criniger) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its distinctive yellow fins contrasting with a slender, elongated body, subtle mottled coloration, and active bottom-dwelling behavior. Males typically are slightly larger with more vibrant yellow fin coloration and may exhibit territorial behavior during breeding, while females/juveniles are smaller with less intense coloration and more subdued patterns. They reach about 6 to 8 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 50 gallons.

Provide a fine sandbed for burrowing, ample live rock for shelter and territory, and open swimming space near the substrate. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temperature ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and use a secure lid since gobies can be prone to jumping. Diet should consist of a varied diet including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and sinking pellets formulated for carnivorous bottom dwellers.
