Yellowfin Angelfish

A Yellowfin Angelfish (Centropyge flavopectoralis) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its deep brown to black body, bright yellow pectoral fins, compact size, and unique contrast of subtle coloration with vibrant highlights.

Males typically display slightly larger bodies and more vivid yellow fin coloration, while females/juveniles are smaller, with subtler tones and less intense fin coloring.

They reach about 3–4 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 55 gallons. Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding spots, caves for shelter, and open swimming space, along with a secure lid since they can be prone to jumping. Stable water parameters are essential: salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, and pH 8.1–8.4.

Their diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality marine pellets, spirulina, and algae-based foods. With proper care and a balanced diet, the Yellowfin Angelfish makes a hardy and striking addition to a saltwater aquarium.
