Yellow Patch Cleaner Wrasse (Labroides dimidiatus) is a mesmerizing reef-safe fish that stands out with a striking yellow patch, sleek black lateral stripe, and a shimmering body that seems to glow as it moves. Known for its peaceful temperament, it becomes a center of attention in any aquarium—fish literally queue up at its cleaning station as it gently removes parasites and dead tissue from their scales. Reaches about 5-6 inches in adult size. Best kept in tanks of at least 75 gallons, with abundant live rock for hiding and cleaning station structure, a fine sand substrate (for burying/resting), stable water conditions (salinity ~1.020-1.025; temperature ~75-82°F; pH ~8.1-8.4), and a tight lid since wrasses are escape artists. Its diet in captivity requires careful attention — while it naturally cleans other fish, you also must feed enriched frozen mysis or brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and quality marine pellets to ensure it thrives.
