Yellow Margin Triggerfish

The Yellow Margin Triggerfish, Adult (Pseudobalistes flavimarginatus) is an aggressive species that is not reef-safe, admired for its bold coloration, strong body structure, and striking yellow-edged fins. Males typically display more vivid coloration with stronger yellow margins along the fins and may grow slightly larger, while females and juveniles tend to have duller colors and more subtle markings. They reach about 20–24 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 300 gallons to provide ample swimming space and to accommodate their territorial nature.

The setup should include a sandy substrate, solid live rock structures for hiding and territory, and plenty of open water for swimming, with a secure lid since triggerfish are known jumpers. Water parameters should remain stable with salinity around 1.020–1.025, temperature between 72–79°F, and pH 8.1–8.4. Their diet should consist of a variety of meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, clams, krill, and high-quality pellets, supplemented occasionally with marine algae to ensure balanced nutrition. With proper care and respect for its size and temperament, this triggerfish makes a commanding and impressive addition to large predator aquariums.
