Yellow Lined Shrimp Goby

Yellow Lined Shrimp Goby (Vanderhorstia flavilineata) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its striking yellow longitudinal lines contrasting against a translucent to light brown body, slender size, and its unique symbiotic relationship with pistol shrimp. Males typically exhibit slightly brighter coloration and more elongated fins, while females and juveniles tend to have softer coloration and smaller fins. They reach about 3 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons. Provide a sandbed with plenty of live rock, ample hiding spots, and open swimming space, replicating their natural burrowing habitat. Maintain stable water parameters with salinity around 1.020-1.025, temperature between 72-79°F, and pH in the range of 8.1-8.4. A secure lid is recommended since many gobies can be prone to jumping. Their diet should consist of small meaty foods like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets. With proper care, the Yellow Lined Shrimp Goby makes a fascinating and attractive addition to reef or marine aquariums.
