Yellow Eye Combtooth Blenny

The fish Yellow Eye Combtooth Blenny (Ecsenius ops) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its distinctive yellow eyes, subtle mottled coloration, small size, and active personality.

Males typically display slightly larger bodies and may show more vivid coloration during breeding, while females/juveniles are smaller with more subdued tones. They reach about 3 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons.

Provide plenty of live rock with hiding spots and grazing surfaces, a soft sandbed, and stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4). A secure lid is necessary, as blennies are known to jump.

Diet should consist of algae, spirulina-based pellets, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and other meaty micro foods. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to reef aquariums thanks to its charm, algae-grazing habits, and quirky behavior.
