Yellow-ear Angelfish, Adult

The Yellow-ear Angelfish, Adult (Apolemichthys xanthotis) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking yellow ear patch, contrasting dark body, elegant fins, and hardy nature.

Males typically display slightly larger size and more intense coloration, while females/juveniles often appear smaller, with more subdued colors and less distinct facial markings.

They reach about 7 inches (18 cm) in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 100 gallons. Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding spots, along with some open swimming space. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and ensure a secure lid since many angelfish may attempt to jump.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality angelfish pellets, marine algae, and sponge-based frozen foods. With proper care, this fish makes a standout showpiece in the aquarium, admired both for its beauty and unique coloration.
