Yellow Coral Banded Shrimp

The Invertebrate Yellow Coral Banded Shrimp (Stenopus sp.) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant yellow and white banded coloration, striking elongated pincers, and elegant, flowing appendages.

Males typically have slightly larger claws and a more elongated body, while females/juveniles are smaller and more delicate, with slightly less pronounced coloration. They reach about 3–4 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons.

Provide a fine sandbed, plenty of live rock, and ample hiding spots, along with some open swimming space. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4) and a secure lid, as many shrimp are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of frozen or live mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely chopped meaty foods, and with proper care, this shrimp makes a stunning, eye-catching addition to any reef or marine aquarium.
