Yellow Clown Goby

The Yellow Clown Goby (Gobiodon okinawae) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant solid yellow coloration, small size, and charming perching behavior on coral branches. Males typically grow slightly larger, may display more pronounced fin extensions, and can become territorial during spawning, while females and juveniles remain smaller with more subtle fin features. They reach about 1.5 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 10 gallons.

Provide plenty of live rock and ideally branching corals (such as Acropora) for perching and hiding, along with some open swimming space. A secure lid is recommended, as gobies can occasionally jump. Maintain stable water parameters: salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, and pH ~8.1–8.4.

Their diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped meaty foods, and high-quality micro pellets. With proper care, this tiny but brightly colored fish makes a standout addition to nano and reef aquariums, often adding personality and activity without requiring a large tank.
