Yellow Chromis

The Yellow Chromis (Chromis analis) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its bright yellow coloration, active schooling behavior, and hardy nature. Males typically grow slightly larger and may display more intense coloration during spawning, while females/juveniles remain smaller and maintain a uniform yellow tone.

They reach about 6–7 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 70–90 gallons, especially if kept in groups. Provide ample live rock for shelter, open swimming space, and hiding spots, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since this species can be prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, quality marine pellets, and occasional algae-based foods. With proper care, this fish makes a standout schooling addition to reef aquariums, bringing both movement and color.
