Yellow Band Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus luteovittatus) is a beautiful and moderately demanding species known for being peaceful and reef-safe, though very small invertebrates might be at risk. Males feature a deep maroon body with a bright yellow horizontal band, dark streaks near the pectoral base, and vivid blue detailing on their dorsal and anal fins; females are more subdued with olive-green to purple tones, two rows of red spots along the flanks, and a light-colored dorsal. It reaches about 5½ inches in adult size. Best kept in tanks of at least 90 gallons, with plenty of live rock for hiding and grazing, a fine sand substrate, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-78°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a tight lid since this wrasse is a jumper. Diet should include vitamin-enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, live microfauna, and high-quality marine pellets once feeding reliably.
