White Spotted Bamboo Shark

My species/animal is a (fish) White Spotted Bamboo Shark (Chiloscyllium plagiosum) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its distinctive white spots, slender body, manageable size, and unique bamboo shark appearance. Males typically have slightly slimmer bodies and may show subtle differences in fin shape, while females/juveniles tend to be slightly larger and more robust. They reach about 30-35 inches (2.5 to almost 3 feet) in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 180-200 gallons.

Provide a soft sandbed, plenty of live rock for hiding spots, and ample open swimming space. Stable water parameters should be maintained with salinity ~1.020-1.025, temperature around 72-79°F (22-26°C), and pH between 8.1-8.4. A secure lid is essential since many bamboo sharks are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, small crustaceans, pellets formulated for carnivorous fish, and occasional frozen seafood. With proper care, this fish makes a standout and fascinating addition to a suitably sized marine aquarium.
