White Spot Red Sea Star

White Spot Red Sea Star (Fromia ghardaqana) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its striking red coloration with distinct white spots, unique body patterns, and graceful slow movement. Males typically show no external differences from females, as this species is not sexually dimorphic, while juveniles are often smaller with duller coloration that intensifies as they mature.

They reach about 4–6 inches in diameter and should be housed in aquariums of at least 50 gallons. Provide ample live rock, mature sandbed, and stable reef structure, as they graze on biofilm, detritus, and microorganisms found on surfaces. Stable water parameters are critical: salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, pH 8.1–8.4.

Diet should consist primarily of natural microalgae, biofilm, and detritus, though they may occasionally accept supplemental offerings such as finely chopped meaty foods (mysis, brine shrimp) and marine algae-based preparations.

With proper care and a well-established reef, this starfish makes a stunning and peaceful addition to marine aquariums, valued for its bright colors and unique beauty.
