The Invertebrate White Spot Anemone (Periclimenes brevicarpalis) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its translucent body adorned with striking white spots, delicate appendages, and symbiotic relationship with host anemones.
Males typically are smaller and less vividly marked, while females/juveniles are slightly larger and often display more prominent spots. They reach about 2 inches and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons.
Provide a well-established tank with live rock for grazing and hiding, a fine sandbed, and open swimming areas. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temperature ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a secure lid since many shrimp are prone to escaping.
Diet should consist of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely chopped seafood, and with proper care, this shrimp makes a striking and fascinating addition to a reef aquarium, especially in anemone-associated displays.
