The White Ribbon Eel (Pseudechidna brummeri) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking elongated body, ribbon-like appearance, and unique pale white to yellow coloration.
Males typically display a slimmer body form with elongated jaws, while females and juveniles are often smaller and may show subtle differences in coloration.
They reach about 30–36 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 75–90 gallons. Provide ample live rock with caves and crevices for hiding, a soft sandbed, and a secure, tight-fitting lid since this species is prone to escaping through small openings. Stable water parameters are essential: salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, and pH ~8.1–8.4.
Diet should consist of meaty foods such as silversides, shrimp, squid, and other marine-based fare; some individuals may accept prepared frozen foods like mysis or krill once acclimated. With proper care and secure housing, the White Ribbon Eel makes a captivating and standout addition to a marine aquarium.
