White Damselfish

The White Damselfish (Dischistodus perspicillatus). It is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its contrasting white body with distinct dark blotches, hardy nature, and active swimming behavior.

Males typically become larger and more territorial, especially during breeding, while females/juveniles tend to be slightly smaller and less aggressive, though still defensive of their space.They reach about 5–6 inches (12–15 cm) in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 55 gallons to provide adequate territory.

Provide ample live rock for hiding and territory establishment, along with open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many damselfish are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of a mix of meaty foods (mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods) and high-quality marine pellets, along with some algae-based foods. With proper care, this fish makes a hardy, active, and visually striking addition to the aquarium, though its territorial behavior should be considered when choosing tankmates.
