The White Cap Clownfish (Amphiprion leucokranos) is a peaceful to semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe, admired for its distinctive white head “cap” pattern, vibrant orange-brown body, and unique rarity as a naturally occurring hybrid.
Males typically remain smaller, with slimmer bodies and less dominance, while females/juveniles grow larger, develop more assertive behavior, and often become the dominant fish in a pair. They reach about 4–5 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons.
Provide live rock structures with hiding spots, moderate open swimming space, and optional anemones for hosting. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, pH 8.1–8.4) and ensure a secure lid, as clownfish can jump.
Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality marine pellets, and occasional algae-based foods. With proper care, this fish makes a rare and standout addition to the aquarium, especially prized by collectors for its unique markings.
