White Banded Possum Wrasse

White Banded Possum Wrasse (Wetmorella albofasciata) is a small, peaceful, reef-safe wrasse admired for its secretive behavior and striking markings. Its slender body is deep brown to reddish in tone, accented by bold vertical white bands and subtle spotting, which give it a distinctive and elegant look. This species stays very small, reaching only about 2.5 inches, making it ideal for nano and mid-sized reef aquariums of at least 20 gallons. Best housed with plenty of live rock, caves, and crevices, it thrives in quiet environments where it can dart between hiding places and gradually build confidence. Completely reef-safe, it poses no threat to corals or invertebrates, making it a great addition to peaceful reef communities. Its diet should consist of finely chopped meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality frozen blends, offered in small, frequent feedings to match its natural foraging behavior.
