Whip Fin Fairy Wrasse

Whip Fin Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus filamentosus) is a reef-safe species with a peaceful temperament that stands out with its long filament-like dorsal fin rays and dazzling color changes. Males have brilliant red upper bodies fading to white below, with bright yellow dorsal and anal fins edged in blue and a blue tail; females tend to be more subdued, pink to red with a pale belly and often a dark spot on the upper caudal peduncle. It reaches about 3-4 inches adult size. Best kept in tanks of at least 55 gallons, with ample live rock for hiding and grazing, plenty of open swimming space, stable water parameters, and a tight lid since it’s a known jumper. Diet should include live copepods and other small crustaceans, enriched frozen mysis and brine shrimp, and high-quality marine pellets once feeding reliably.
