Weber's Chromis (Chromis weberi) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its silvery-blue body with subtle greenish hues, schooling behavior, and active swimming in the water column. Males typically display brighter coloration and may show dominance in a school, while females/juveniles retain a more subdued silvery tone and blend well into groups.
They reach about 4 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 55 gallons, ideally in groups for natural schooling behavior. Provide plenty of open swimming space, live rock for shelter, and secure hiding spots, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4). A secure lid is important since these fish can jump.
Diet should consist of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality marine pellets, and occasional algae-based foods. With proper care, this fish makes a standout, hardy, and active addition to the aquarium.
