Variegated Coris Wrasse (Coris batuensis) is a striking and active species that brings bold color and personality to larger marine systems. Males display green bodies with wide dark sidebars, occasional patches of pink along the flanks, and a darker belly, while females and juveniles are more subtle—green with narrow pale and dark bands, facial pink highlights, and a black eyespot on the dorsal fin. They reach about 7-inches in adult size. Best kept in tanks of at least 75 gallons, with a deep fine sand bed (for burrowing and sleeping), plenty of live rock for hiding and foraging, open swimming space, and a secure lid since they are jumpers. Diet should be carnivorous: live or frozen foods like mysis, brine shrimp, small crustaceans, and supplemented with high-quality pellets.
