Melanurus Wrasse

Melanurus Wrasse (Halichoeres melanurus) is a vibrant reef-safe beauty with a peaceful temperament, known for its dazzling color display and lively personality that keeps hobbyists mesmerized. Males show rich blue-green bodies with glowing pink/orange stripes and a distinctive tail-spot; females/juveniles are more muted initially but develop brighter hues and contrast as they mature. It reaches about 5 inches adult size. Best kept in aquariums of at least 50 gallons, with plenty of live rock for hiding and grazing, a fine sand bed for burying/resting, stable water parameters, and a tight lid since this wrasse is a jumper. Diet should include live or frozen meaty foods like mysis and brine shrimp, copepods, and quality marine pellets/flakes — and regular feedings will really bring out its full color.
