Ultra Premium Plus Maxima Clam

My species/animal is a (fish) Ultra Premium Plus Maxima Clam (Tridacna maxima) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its stunning and intense coloration, including bright blues and turquoises, complex mantle patterns, moderate size, and a robust shell with prominent ridges. Males typically exhibit more vibrant and larger mantles with stronger coloration contrasts, while females/juveniles show slightly muted colors and smaller mantle size but still maintain beautiful patterns. They reach about 6–8 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 50 gallons. Provide a stable sandbed for anchoring, plenty of live rock for attachment, areas of moderate open swimming space, and shaded spots to protect from intense direct light. Maintain stable water parameters with salinity around 1.020-1.025, temperature between 72-79°F, and pH around 8.1-8.4. A secure lid is highly recommended since many clam species can jump or shift unexpectedly. Diet should consist of planktonic foods like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, supplemented with specialized clam pellets and algae. With proper care, this clam makes a vibrant and eye-catching centerpiece for any reef aquarium.
