Ultra Coco's Maxima Clam

The Ultra Coco's Maxima Clam (Tridacna maxima) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its unique vibrant coloration combining rich earthy tones with bright blue and green highlights, intricate mantle patterns, and moderate size. This clam is highly prized for its striking appearance and iridescence under strong aquarium lighting.

Males typically exhibit slightly more intense and saturated coloration, while females/juveniles have softer hues and less defined patterns, becoming more vibrant as they mature. They reach about 6 to 8 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 50 gallons.

Provide a stable attachment surface such as live rock or a clam cradle, moderate to strong lighting, and open swimming space around them. Maintain stable water parameters:

• Salinity: ~1.020–1.025

• Temperature: ~72–79°F

• pH: ~8.1–8.4

A secure lid is recommended since clams can sometimes be disturbed by other aquarium inhabitants or water movement.

Their diet mainly consists of photosynthesis via symbiotic zooxanthellae, supplemented if necessary with phytoplankton or marine snow for juveniles. With proper care, this clam makes a spectacular and peaceful addition to any reef aquarium.
