The Twinspot Bimaculatus Blenny (Ecsenius bimaculatus) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its slender body, distinct twin black spots near the base of the dorsal fin, unique facial markings, and algae-grazing habits.
Males typically are slightly larger and may display stronger coloration or territorial behaviors during breeding, while females/juveniles tend to be smaller with more subdued patterns.
They reach about 2.5–3 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. Provide plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding spots, along with open swimming space. Keep stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temperature ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and use a secure lid since this species can jump.
Diet should consist of algae (film and macro), spirulina, mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality herbivore pellets. With proper care, this fish makes a hardy and attractive addition to reef and community aquariums.
