Twin Spot Maori Wrasse

Twin Spot Maori Wrasse (Oxycheilinus bimaculatus) is a striking and semi-aggressive species prized in the trade for its dramatic facial markings and distinct twin dark spots—one behind each eye. Reef-safe with caution (small fishes and inverts may become prey), it has a bold temperament especially once settled and displays beautiful color variation that intensifies in males. It reaches about 6 inches in length; best housed in a tank of 90+ gallons with plenty of rockwork for shelter, open areas for swimming, and a fine deep sandbed. Diet should include high quality marine meaty foods: live or frozen mysis and brine shrimp, crustaceans, and supplemented with premium pellets once feeding reliably. Requires stable water, secure lid (wrasses are jumpers), and low-stress tankmates to show off its full patterns.
