Timor Wrasse

Timor Wrasse (Halichoeres timorensis) is a vibrant reef-safe gem with an active, engaging temperament that brings serious personality to any marine display. Males display pearly blue-green bodies speckled with bright orange dots and dashes, vivid head striping, and subtle yellow highlights; females are distinguished by orange dashes and a light-ringed dark spot on the dorsal fin, with soft green tones. Reaches about 5 inches adult size. Best housed in tanks of at least 90 gallons with a deep fine sandy substrate (for burying at night or when startled), abundant live rock and crevices for hiding and grazing, strong water circulation, stable tropical water conditions (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~75-82°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a secure lid since this species is known to jump. Its diet should be rich and varied: live or frozen mysis/brine shrimp, tiny crustaceans, chopped shellfish, plus high-quality marine pellets or flakes. Given its beauty, pest-control ability (it helps eat flatworms/snails), and its dramatic color transitions with maturity, it’s a premium choice for those who want something eye-catching and lively.
