Tiger Wardi Watchman Goby

Tiger Wardi Watchman Goby (Valenciennea wardi) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking tiger-like vertical stripes along its body, elongated fins, slender shape, and unique sand-sifting behavior. Males typically are larger and may display more vivid coloration during breeding, sometimes with elongated fin rays, while females/juveniles are smaller with less intense striping and coloration. They reach about 6 to 8 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 50 gallons.

Provide a deep, fine sandbed essential for their constant sand-sifting and burrowing activities, ample live rock for shelter, and open swimming space. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temperature ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and ensure a secure lid since watchman gobies are known jumpers. Diet should consist of a variety of meaty foods including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality sinking pellets designed for carnivorous benthic feeders.
