Tiger Damselfish

Tiger Damselfish (Pomacentrus sp.) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant coloration, bold patterns, and active nature.

Males typically display more vivid colors and can become territorial, especially when guarding a chosen area, while females/juveniles tend to be less intense in coloration and slightly more tolerant of tankmates.

They reach about 3–4 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. Provide ample live rock for hiding spots and territories, along with some open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, quality marine pellets, and some algae-based foods. With proper care, this fish makes a colorful and hardy addition to marine aquariums, though it may show aggression toward smaller or timid tankmates.
