Tiger Angelfish

The Tiger Angelfish (Apolemichthys kingi) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking black-and-orange tiger-like patterning, rarity, and impressive size.

Males typically display bolder, more vibrant striping and slightly larger body size, while females/juveniles show less intense coloration and subtler patterns.

They reach about 10 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 180 gallons. Provide plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding, a sandy substrate, and ample open swimming space. Ensure stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and use a secure lid, as angelfish can be jumpers.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, marine pellets, spirulina, sponge-based angelfish preparations, and macroalgae. With proper care, this rare and highly sought-after angelfish makes a standout centerpiece addition to advanced aquariums.
