The Titan Triggerfish (Balistoides viridescens) is an aggressive species that is not reef-safe, admired for its massive size, striking coloration, bold patterns, and dominant personality. Known as the largest member of the triggerfish family, it commands attention in any marine setup and is best suited for advanced aquarists due to its territorial nature.

Males typically develop brighter, more intense coloration and larger body size, while females and juveniles tend to display duller tones and slightly smaller frames. They reach about 30 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 300 gallons to accommodate their size and swimming needs. A setup with a deep sandbed, plenty of live rock for hiding and grazing, and large open swimming space is ideal. Tanks should have a secure lid as this species is strong and capable of moving rocks or equipment when startled or aggressive.

The diet should consist of a varied mix of meaty foods such as clams, mussels, shrimp, squid, and other crustaceans, along with marine pellets and occasional algae-based foods to balance nutrition. With proper care, the Titan Triggerfish is a long-lived and powerful centerpiece fish, but it is not recommended for peaceful community tanks or coral-heavy reef aquariums due to its destructive feeding habits and territorial behavior.
