Tangaroan Shrimp Goby

Tangaroan Shrimp Goby (Ctenogobiops tangaroai) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its striking spotted pattern, delicate translucent fins, slender body, and symbiotic behavior with alpheid shrimp. Males typically exhibit slightly larger size and may show more vibrant spotting during breeding periods, while females/juveniles are smaller with less intense coloration. They reach about 3-4 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons.

Provide a fine sandbed for burrowing, ample live rock for hiding spots and territorial boundaries, and some open swimming space. Stable water parameters are essential (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temperature ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a secure lid is important since gobies can be prone to jumping. Diet should consist of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality pellets or flakes formulated for carnivores.
