Sunset Anthias

Sunset Anthias (Pyronotanthias parvirostris) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vivid orange to reddish coloration, subtle gradient patterns along the body, and relatively small size. Males typically display brighter and more intense coloration with elongated dorsal fins, while females and juveniles have softer, paler hues and shorter fins. They reach about 3 to 4 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 55 gallons.

Provide plenty of live rock for hiding spots and territories, open swimming space, and a sandy substrate. Maintain stable water parameters with salinity around 1.020-1.025, temperature between 72-79°F, and pH from 8.1 to 8.4. A secure lid is recommended since anthias are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality marine pellets or flakes. With proper care, this species makes a vibrant and graceful addition to reef or marine aquariums.
