Starcki Damselfish

The Starcki Damselfish (Chrysiptera starcki) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its vibrant blue coloration, bright yellow tail, compact size, and active swimming behavior.

Males typically display more intense coloration and territorial behavior, while females and juveniles are slightly smaller with subtler hues. They reach about 3 inches (7.5 cm) in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. Provide a sandbed, plenty of live rock for hiding, and open swimming areas to allow natural behaviors.

Maintain stable water parameters with salinity around 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F (22–26°C), and pH 8.1–8.4, and ensure a secure lid since damselfish are known jumpers. Their diet should consist of a mix of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, and occasional algae. With proper care, the Starcki Damselfish makes a vibrant and active addition to any marine aquarium.
