Spotbreast Angelfish Male

The Spotbreast Angelfish Male (Genicanthus melanospilos) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its striking sexual dimorphism, elegant elongated fins, and bold black spot marking on the breast of males.

Males typically display vibrant silver bodies with black stripes along the dorsal region, long trailing caudal fins, and the characteristic dark “spot-breast,” while females/juveniles are more subdued with a silvery-white body and faint horizontal striping.

They reach about 7 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 125 gallons. Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding, open swimming space to accommodate their active nature, and a secure lid, as they can jump.Stable water parameters are essential: salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, and pH 8.1–8.4.

Their diet should consist of a variety of foods such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, and algae-based preparations to ensure balanced nutrition.With proper care, the Spotbreast Angelfish makes a standout addition to reef aquariums, both for its beauty and peaceful temperament.
