The Snowflake Moray Eel (Echidna nebulosa) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking white and black mottled coloration accented with bright yellow markings around the eyes and mouth. Known for its serpentine body and bold pattern, this eel is a popular choice for aquarists seeking a unique showpiece. Males typically grow larger and more robust with thicker jaws, while females and juveniles tend to remain smaller and slimmer in build. They reach about 24 to 39 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 75 gallons, though larger tanks are strongly recommended for adults.
A proper setup should include a deep sandbed, ample live rock with caves and crevices for hiding, and open swimming space. A secure lid is essential, as Snowflake Morays are notorious escape artists. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, and pH 8.1–8.4) to ensure long-term health.
Their diet should consist of meaty marine foods such as silversides, squid, shrimp, krill, and other frozen or fresh seafood items, offered 2–3 times per week. They are not obligate fish eaters but may consume small tankmates if given the chance, so compatibility should be considered carefully. With proper care and feeding, the Snowflake Moray Eel can thrive for many years, making it a standout and captivating addition to a marine aquarium.

On request, we also send photos/videos after arrival at IA. Some species are import-to-order (3-10 business days). Many common species are already cleared or near the end of QT.
Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
