The Slender Grouper (Anyperodon leucogrammicus) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its elongated, slender body, striking horizontal white-blue stripes, unique camouflage abilities, and predatory nature.
Males typically develop stronger coloration with bolder striping and may display territorial behavior, while females/juveniles are smaller, more subdued in color, and often shy until mature.
They reach about 20–24 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 250 gallons due to their size and active swimming needs. Provide ample live rock for hiding, open swimming space, and a secure lid since they may leap when startled. Stable water parameters are required (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4).
Diet should consist of meaty foods such as fresh/frozen shrimp, squid, silversides, and other marine-based foods; juveniles may accept mysis or enriched brine, but adults prefer larger prey. They may eat small fish or invertebrates, so tankmates should be chosen carefully. With proper care and a suitably large system, this fish makes a stunning, predatory centerpiece in a display aquarium.
International Aquatics Quarantine & Guarantee: All fish are checked by marine vets, given a formalin bath, and held for 14 days in copper-treated systems. We feed Selcon-soaked food with Kanaplex and Metroplex during quarantine. Unless marked, all livestock comes with our 15-Day Guarantee. You will receive a video of your fish eating before shipment. On request, we also send photos/videos after arrival at IA. Some species are import-to-order (3-10 business days). Many common species are already cleared or near the end of QT.
Several species will be import-to-order and may take anywhere from 3-10 business days to secure. Once your fish is secured, you will be notified, and the quarantine process will then begin.
Do you want me to also make a short version (like a care card/quick reference sheet) for the Slender Grouper that summarizes the essentials?
