Sleeper Banded Goby

Sleeper Banded Goby (Amblygobius phalaena) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its distinctive banded pattern, vibrant yellow and brown coloration, elongated body, and active sand-sifting behavior. Males typically have slightly brighter and more intense coloration, sometimes exhibiting subtle territorial behavior, while females and juveniles tend to be less vividly colored and smaller. They reach about 6 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. Provide a deep sandbed for burrowing and foraging, ample live rock for shelter, and open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a secure lid since gobies are prone to jumping. Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, pellets, and other meaty frozen foods. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium, helping maintain the substrate and adding beautiful movement and color.
