The Fish Sixbar Angelfish Juvenile (Pomacanthus sexstriatus). It is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its bold vertical striping, contrasting juvenile vs. adult coloration, large size, and striking presence.
Males typically display larger size and more intense coloration patterns, while females/juveniles show brighter, more pronounced black-and-white banding that softens as they mature.
They reach about 18 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 220 gallons. Provide ample live rock with caves and hiding spots, a sandy bottom, and plenty of open swimming space, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4). A secure lid is recommended, as angelfish can startle and jump.
Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, marine algae, spirulina, high-quality angelfish pellets, and sponges in prepared foods. With proper care, this fish makes a standout centerpiece addition to large marine aquariums.
