Sixbar Angelfish Adult

The Sixbar Angelfish, Adult (Pomacanthus sexstriatus) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its bold vertical stripes, striking coloration, large size, and commanding presence.

Males typically display slightly larger bodies with more intense coloration, while females/juveniles exhibit duller hues and transitional patterning before fully developing their adult stripes.

They reach about 18 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 220 gallons. Provide ample live rock for grazing, caves and hiding spots for security, and open swimming space. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and ensure a secure lid since many angelfish are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, marine-based pellets, sponges, spirulina, nori, and other algae-based foods. With proper care, this fish makes a standout showpiece addition to a large marine aquarium, though careful selection of tank mates and corals is recommended.
