Short Stripe Goby

Short Stripe Goby (Elacatinus chancei) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its distinctive short horizontal white stripes across a slender, translucent body, small size, and active, curious behavior. Males typically have slightly brighter coloration and may exhibit subtle territorial behaviors, while females and juveniles tend to be a bit more subdued in color and smaller in size. They reach about 2 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons. Provide live rock with plenty of crevices for hiding, open swimming space, and a sandy substrate, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a secure lid since many gobies are prone to jumping. Diet should consist of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality frozen or pellet foods. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium, adding both beauty and natural cleaning behavior.
