Sharknose Goby

Sharknose Goby (Elacatinus evelynae) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its striking coloration with a distinct black and white “sharknose” stripe along its head, small size, and unique cleaning behavior. Males typically have brighter coloration and may display territorial behavior, while females and juveniles tend to be slightly less vibrant and smaller. They reach about 2 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20 gallons. Provide live rock with plenty of crevices and hiding spots, along with open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a secure lid since many gobies can be prone to jumping. Diet should consist of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and high-quality prepared frozen or pellet foods. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium, often acting as a cleaner fish helping other species by removing parasites.
