Sexy Anemone Shrimp

The Invertebrate Sexy Anemone Shrimp (Thor amboinensis) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its striking coloration with vibrant orange and white patterns, small size, and unique “sexy” swaying tail motion.

Males typically remain smaller and slender, often less colorful than females, while females/juveniles are slightly larger and display more prominent coloration. They reach about 1 inch (2.5 cm) and should be housed in aquariums of at least 10 gallons.

Provide a fine sandbed, plenty of live rock with crevices, and hiding spots, along with some open swimming space, stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, and finely chopped marine pellets. With proper care, this shrimp makes a captivating and lively addition to a reef aquarium, especially when paired with host anemones or coral for natural behavior observation.
