Seram Sailfin Blenny

Seram Sailfin Blenny (Salarias ceramensis) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe, admired for its cryptic coloration, mottled body patterns, algae-grazing behavior, and unique sail-like dorsal fin.

Males typically grow slightly larger, may develop more pronounced fin displays, and show territorial behavior when competing for space or females, while females/juveniles are generally smaller, with subtler coloration and less dominant behavior.

They reach about 4–5 inches in length and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons. Provide ample live rock with algae growth, hiding spots, and grazing surfaces, along with stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020-1.025, temp ~72-79°F, pH ~8.1-8.4), and a secure lid since many species are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of microalgae, filamentous algae, spirulina, enriched frozen foods (mysis, brine, copepods), and high-quality herbivore pellets. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium, both for its algae-controlling role and engaging personality.
