Sebae Clownfish

The Sebae Clownfish (Amphiprion sebae). It is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its contrasting black, white, and yellow coloration, bold vertical stripe behind the eye, and strong pairing/bonding behavior.

Males typically remain smaller and may display submissive behaviors such as “twitching” toward dominant females, while females/juveniles grow larger, become more dominant, and often take on the role of the breeding female in a group.

They reach about 5–6 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 30 gallons (larger if keeping pairs or multiple tankmates). Provide ample live rock with hiding spots, open swimming space, and preferably an anemone or coral host for security. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temp ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and ensure a secure lid since many clownfish are prone to jumping.

Diet should consist of a varied mix of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality pellets, and occasional algae-based foods. With proper care, this fish makes a standout addition to the aquarium for both its beauty and fascinating social behavior.
