Scribbled Angelfish

A Fish Scribbled Angelfish (Chaetodontoplus duboulayi) is a semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its striking scribbled blue-and-yellow patterns, bold facial markings, and large size compared to many other angelfish.

Males typically display more vibrant coloration with an intense mix of blue scribbles and a brighter yellow tail, while females/juveniles tend to be less vividly marked, with subtler scribbling and more muted tones. They reach about 10–12 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 180 gallons.

Provide plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding spots, along with open swimming space to accommodate their active nature. Maintain stable water parameters (salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature ~72–79°F, pH ~8.1–8.4), and ensure the tank has a secure lid since angelfish may jump.

Their diet should consist of a varied mix of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, high-quality angelfish pellets, spirulina, sponges, and marine algae to support long-term health. With proper care, this species makes a stunning and dynamic centerpiece in the aquarium.
