Ruby Dragonet (Synchiropus sycorax) is a truly striking and rare dragonet, renowned for its intense ruby-red body accented with delicate blue and white markings. Unlike many of its more camouflaged relatives, this species stands out with a bold, almost glowing appearance that makes it one of the most visually captivating dragonets available. Growing to about 2–2.5 inches, it is perfectly suited for nano and mid-sized reef systems of at least 20 gallons, though it requires a mature aquarium with plenty of live rock and sand to support a healthy population of copepods and amphipods. Completely reef-safe, it poses no risk to corals or invertebrates, and its peaceful temperament makes it an ideal choice for community reef tanks with other gentle species. While primarily pod-feeders, some Ruby Dragonets may adapt to mysis, enriched brine shrimp, or finely chopped frozen foods, but a thriving pod culture is critical for long-term success. With proper care, this fish becomes a living jewel in any reef display.
