Rhino Blenny

Rhino Blenny (Paraclinus sp.) is a peaceful species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its cryptic coloration, mottled camouflage patterns, horn-like appendages above the eyes, and quirky personality.

Males typically develop more pronounced head appendages and may display brighter or more intense coloration during courtship, while females/juveniles are usually smaller, with less pronounced horns and more subdued patterning.

They reach about 3 to 4 inches in adult size and should be housed in aquariums of at least 20–30 gallons. Provide ample live rock for grazing and hiding spots, crevices to retreat into, and a sandbed. A secure lid is essential, as blennies are known jumpers. Stable water parameters are required (salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, pH 8.1–8.4).

Diet should consist of small meaty foods (mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods), finely chopped seafood, and occasionally high-quality pellets or frozen preparations. They may also graze on microalgae present in the aquarium.
