Regal Angelfish Ultra

The Regal Angelfish, Ultra (Pygoplites diacanthus) is a peaceful to semi-aggressive species that is reef-safe with caution, admired for its brilliant yellow and blue vertical banding, striking orange highlights, and graceful swimming behavior.

 Males typically display slightly more vivid coloration and sharper band contrast, while females and juveniles often have more subdued tones with distinct juvenile striping. They reach about 9–10 inches in adulthood and should be housed in aquariums of at least 120 gallons.

Provide ample live rock, caves, and hiding spots along with open swimming space, as these fish can be shy and require secure environments. Stable water parameters are essential: salinity ~1.020–1.025, temperature 72–79°F, and pH 8.1–8.4. A secure lid is strongly recommended since angelfish may jump.

Their diet should consist of a variety of high-quality foods such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, marine copepods, spirulina, algae sheets, and specialized angelfish pellets or frozen preparations. With proper care, the Regal Angelfish, Ultra becomes a true centerpiece in the aquarium, admired for its beauty and elegance.
